Description
Offered here is a classic Colt 1st Generation Single Action Army revolver, serial number 346466, chambered in .38 Colt and manufactured in the twilight years of original production. Featuring a 5 ½" barrel and 6-shot fluted cylinder, this piece retains the spirit of the Old West with just enough modern modification to make it a practical shooter or a character-rich addition to any Colt collection.
This revolver retains about 40% of its original blue on the barrel, cylinder, and grip straps, fading to a mottled patina with spots of freckling and honest wear throughout. The frame, hammer, and trigger show remnants of case coloring and natural aging. The grips are two-piece black checkered hard rubber with Rampant Colt emblems, showing light, even wear.
Most notably, this example has been outfitted with an aftermarket dovetail-mounted square notch rear sight and a custom front blade mounted on a soldered ramp—offering improved sight picture for shooting but reducing collector purity. The bore remains good with defined rifling and only mild wear. Mechanically, the action is functional and crisp, offering reliable cycling and lockup.
