The Ruger AR-556 MPR (Multi-Purpose Rifle) blends rugged construction, precision components, and tactical versatility into one well-rounded AR-platform rifle. Chambered in 5.56 NATO, this rifle features a 16.1" cold hammer-forged barrel with a 1:8" twist, optimized for a broad range of bullet weights and applications—from plinking and training to home defense and competition.

The rifle is outfitted with an 11" free-floating aluminum handguard featuring Magpul® M-LOK® slots at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock positions, as well as additional mounting points near the muzzle for lights, grips, or bipods. A flat-top upper receiver with Picatinny rail allows seamless mounting of optics or backup iron sights. The M4-style telescoping stock offers a six-position adjustable length of pull for shooter comfort, while the enlarged trigger guard accommodates gloved hands.

Internally, the AR-556 MPR uses high-strength 7075-T6 aluminum forgings, a 9310 shot-peened steel bolt, and a chrome-plated 8620 steel bolt carrier group. A single-stage trigger and ergonomic pistol grip round out the controls. Ruger’s attention to detail ensures that every component—from the staked gas key to the M4 feed ramps—is built to last and perform.
